2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHow were a few people able to stop an entire campaign rally?
I'm traveling so I haven't had a chance to see what happened.
Am I understanding this correctly? 3 or 4 people were able to shutdown an entire rally and Bernie left without addressing the crowd?
I haven't heard of anything like this before. Doesn't security usually come to escort the protesters out and the show go on as planned?
It's not like this is the first time in the history of the world that protesters have interrupted an event.
This is just bizarre.

(26,366 posts)as happened when protesters tried to interrupt Obama speaking at Selma recently.

(25,294 posts)security? I thought when one applies for a permit to hold such and event - that the cities require the sponsoring body of the event to provide security. What gives?

(14,459 posts)Bernie let them have the floor, and they wouldn't give it back. His rally went fine later.
BLM is roundly being seen as a political operation now due to them targeting Sanders again, and because of how badly they did it.

(11,785 posts)It was some sort of event celebrating SS, Medicaid, & Medicare, and Bernie was one of the invited speakers.

(10,565 posts), much smaller afternoon event, held in a park, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Social Security, and to voice support for protecting against the erosion of SS, Medicare and Medicaid (something Sanders has spoken out about on multiple occasions). Bernie was not the only speaker.
The post I read in LBN referred to it as a rally...that's why I was confused.

(89,287 posts)but too scared to say it to the faces of those who disrupted .
and all this shit about "that's not who bernie is" is bs also as he did tell someone to shut up when asked about some question on the middle east .
Sanders should have told them to let him respond including saying "shut the fuck and let me respond" if they kept it up .
winter is coming
(11,785 posts)It was pretty obvious they were trolling the crowd, trying to get arrested or provoke something that would look bad on video. The only thing that looked bad on video was them.
These people always talk tough over the interwebz, but cower in real life.

(11,441 posts)It was a no-win situation for him. Plus, they were very physical and threatening, unlike the NRN protesters. I was concerned for his safety. Actually, based on the huge crowd at his rally tonight and the Twitter condemnation of the Seattle #BLMers, I *would* say he won.
