Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will fuel a humongous surge in small donors as powerful as his surging crowds
In two appearances in recent days, in Washington State and Oregon, Bernie Sanders drew massive crowds of supporters that were largerfor these two speeches alone-than the combined crowds of every Republican and Democrat running for president added together over the entire weekend.
First, on Saturday night, a spectacular crowd of 15,000 people turned out for a Sanders rally at the Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle. And then, on Sunday, Sanders roused a humongous crowd at the Moda Center in Portland, estimated in The Oregonian to be 28,000.
For serious analysts of politics the summer belongs to Sandersand no other candidate can come even close to the size of his crowds or the clarity, passion and idealism of his message. The Republican campaign has become a reality television show while the Sanders campaign offers the reality of a surging movement of progressive politics, progressive organization and progressive inspiration that is transforming American politics under the radar of the national political media.
Remember where you heard it first: When the next quarterly campaign finance reports are released in October the political world will be shocked by the breathtaking increase in small donor money to the Sanders campaign.

This is why I was one of the first to predict that Mr. Sanders has a very strong chance of achieving an outright victory in the Iowa Democratic caucus. Look at the Sanders Facebook page; count the crowds tomorrow from events promoted on his Facebook page today; watch the huge small donor surge that will stun the political world in October; and imagine the turnout in Iowa and other caucus states when the Sanders Facebook page posts the addresses of the caucus meetings and how, when Sanders builds it, they will come.

(62,325 posts)CU in order to win elections. And he's not just talking about it, he's living it. Every other candidate at least on the Dem side, should join him in refusing to take Corporate money. I doubt that will happen THIS time, but his success has inspired other candidates for Congress, to do the same thing.
Slowly we CAN get the corrupt money out of our politics even before CU is eventually rescinded which it must be.

(11,641 posts)Social media is really helping him. I am expecting many large scale efforts to sabotage his social media successes on FB, twitter, Reddit, and forums.
To be clear it's already started. In just one example from last night a brigade swarmed the Bernie Sanders sub Reddit last night posting racist comments about Sanders, his supporters, and the BLM protesters. No doubt there will be many more and varied tactics used. The GOP NEVER plays fair.
Hopefully the American people will see through the deluge of CU and it will weaken it's affect.
The MSM is another story. Heck Trump doesn't even need to spend much money. It's all Trump all the time on TeeVee. And there is no doubt that the corporations that own the major media know exactly what their doing....

(62,325 posts)That's what all the corporate money is used for, to quash any threat to the Status Quo.
I think Social Media is the most powerful to destroy those attempts swiftly as has happened with the latest and most vile tactic, using the race card. That has simply blown up in their faces thanks to all the good people who watched it in disgust.
The more successful he is, the more gatherings there will be of Think Tanks from both parties trying to figure out how to end this threat to their crooked, comfortable lives.
Hopefully people have had enough of these dirty tricks and will slap them down fast and force these political hacks to TALK ABOUT ISSUES.
