Martin O'Malley and more than 155,000 others have signed an online petition calling on the Commission on Presidential Debates to select former Daily Show host Jon Stewart to moderate a debate.
Over the last 16 years, Jon Stewart has played an influential and iconic role in covering US politics and media. We believe he should continue that tradition as a moderator at one of the 2016 Presidential Debates, the petition says.
Jon Stewart is more than qualified to tackle the moderating job, it continues. Mr. Stewart has interviewed 15 heads of state, 22 members of the United States Cabinet, 32 members of the United States Senate, 7 members of the United States House of Representatives, and scores of other political leaders from this country and around the world while establishing himself as the most trusted person in (satirical) news.
The petition, created by Mariel Waters, of Stanhope, New Jersey, was launched on Change.org two weeks ago, but started picking up steam in the last couple days.
Mr. O'Malley, former Maryland governor, tweeted his support Thursday: Signed. Jon Stewart moderating or not, #WeNeedDebate.

election debate. Aside from which, Republicans would never agree to such an arrangement.
I like Jon Stewart a lot, but he is a comedian. Who sits and thinks up this shit? The clown debates are bad enough, now people want to make the Democratic debates the laughing stock of the world too?
