Did anyone else think the Navy should have just dropped in a knockout gas that would have put everyone on the lifeboat out for 20 minutes with no after-effects, and swoop in and rescue Phillips and subdue the pirates?

And then we watched Gravity LAST night and I had a solution for her: why didn't she just pull on the parachute lines, secure herself, and reel George in? Didn't seem like they put much effort into it, before he floated away.
Guess this is why I need to be very selective in my Hollwood film viewing...
