Tried ear plugs. Not enough protection. May try the earplugs with over the ear & head big ol hearing protectors my husband got for when he used the BIG power tools or went target shooting.

This new version of Dune, part 1 at least, stayed very true to the book. I have hopes for part 2, but don't want my ears to bleed.

Will post whether the big over the ear hearing protector helped. I'm old and don't want to wait for Dune part 2 to show up streaming, might not live long enough. LOL

I can't wait for it to stream. I'm not much of a theater goer since covid. Crowds are a festering cesspool of germs and viruses and magats who won't vaccinate.

4. I've got tickets for Dune 2

Seeing it in about 1.30 hours from now. Looking forward to it. Saw Dune 1 last night on TNT, having it on in the background now so my hubby can get caught up before seeing Dune 2.

Theater here has been sold out since it started yesterday. Looking forward to it tonight!!! Love how this new version is so much closer to the books. But I did like the cast of the original Dune better than the ones in the current films. But that's just me (gryn).

It was ok, but after reading the books, I was left thinking wtf?

So much was missing, so much glo@sed over, I hardly recognized the story.

If I hadn't read the books, I would have enjoyed it more.

8. Unless you saw the full original movie

(the one with Kyle McCaughlan as Paul)... the one beyond the Director's cut... it would have been really hard to follow the story unless you'd read the books. I remember being so disappointed coming out of the theater after seeing it, but realizing how hard it would have been to make a movie from all the Dune books. I remember SciFi channel showing all three versions of the movie... the theatrical release, the director's cut, and the full version all in one day. I reveled in it. The full version would have been too long for the theaters, I guess... it was over 4 hours with commercials. But it did a lot better at explaining what was going on. You didn't have to fill in too much from memory. I actually kind of liked it. A little later after that, they had their own Dune miniseries, and I thought it was actually pretty good.

I was one of those who ate up each of the books as soon as they came out, and then read them over and over again. I was going through my divorce at the time, and it was wonderful to escape into that world for a little while!

I'm getting ready to head out the door for the theater. Hubby's been into the Dune 1 on TNT. Hopefully I won't have to explain too much as Dune 2 is showing! (LOL) He's a bit SciFi freak, but not quite as much as me.

9. Loved the books but kind of tired of these two part concept movies. I can actually sit for 4 or more hours attentively.

And if its because you want double the ticket price for that much production, fine, charge me double.

I'll wait for streaming, and even then I'm not so sure I'll watch it. It's been years since I read the book.

11. First weekend at the theaters of Dune Part 2........

Warner Bros. and Legendary’s “Dune: Part Two” is enjoying the biggest opening weekend the box office has seen in nearly five months. After taking in $32 million through Friday, Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic is set for a $75 million-plus opening weekend from 4,071 screens.
That’s the highest opening weekend since the $80 million opening of “Five Nights at Freddy’s” in October and lifts overall domestic grosses above $100 million for the first time since the last weekend of 2023.

It’s also well above the $41 million opening weekend of the first “Dune,” which opened in October 2021 amidst COVID-19 concerns and with a day-and-date release on streaming.

It's thrilling seeing all the enthusiasm for Dune Part Two. I want to see it on Imax, but I'm also dreading it. After watching Dune Part One about 10 or 12 times (while fast-forwarding past the really depressing parts) I'm more anxious about the story unfolding.

I also marvel at the many book fans protection of Herbert's source material. It's been a revelation. I have all the books, but never could stick with it.

Just came across this on Instagram. Pretty clever.
