They Grey Lady cheated on me once too often; I can no longer allow the NY Times to be part of my life.

(6,346 posts)But you probably still have a few feelings left from those 57 years. But sometimes people cross a line they can never return from, and that is what the NY Times did by editing it's link on this positive Bernie Sanders story after publication so completely that no one would forward it any more - except his opponents. I was shocked and disgusted by this.

(898 posts)against Bernie. The Grey Lady is in love with the Clinton's power and money, she's infatuated with the 0.01%. She has betrayed me too many times. The feelings will be there for a long time, but a choice had to be made, a few tears will be shed, but it's over.

(3,017 posts)Newspapers like the NY Times and Washington Post are worth very little from an economic standpoint. The common stock of the New York Times Company is worth less than 20% of what it was valued at when it was at a peak about 30 years ago. The New York Times Company is only worth $2.05 billion and it has all kinds of media properties and investments with the New York Times newspaper being only a small portion of the company.
Newspapers that are fighting for economic survival are much more likely to be influenced and corrupted by outside forces. Advertisers can threaten to pull their ads if they don't get favorable coverage in the newspaper. Political campaigns can feed "scoops" to newspapers who are short on reporters but play ball with them. I will make an OP on this.
