BREAKING: Bernie Running As Well, Or Stronger, Than HRC In Key Swing States
From Daily Kos:
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is behind or on the wrong side of a too-close-to-call result in matchups with three leading Republican contenders, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in Colorado, Iowa and Virginia, according to a Quinnipiac University Swing State Poll released today.
In several matchups in Iowa and Colorado, another Democratic contender, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, runs as well as, or better than Clinton against Rubio, Bush and Walker. Vice President Joseph Biden does not do as well.
Part of the reason this needs to be taken with a grain of salt is matchups against any opponents on the clown-car side is completely irrelevant since the spectacle there changes daily.
That said, while I've said time and again that Bernie has a very very steep hill to climb to win the nomination, I've never bought the line that he is a weaker general election candidate than Hillary Clinton primarily for the very issue of honesty, integrity and authenticity which, whether people like it or not, is a factor in the way people decide; they just don't sit down and compare each person's ten-point plan.

Bernie Running as Well as HC in Swing States
Yes, this it is July. Yes, things can change overnight. But DAMN! This is fabulous news!

(36,988 posts)i know ........... the morning joke and chuck slob but hey
Scarborough called the numbers stunning. President Barack Obama won all three states in the 2008 and 2012 general elections.
Meet the Press Chuck Todd said that if it was not for the medias fascination with Donald Trump, the biggest story of the summer would be Clintons continued struggle solidifying herself among the Democratic base. The poll found socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) doing better than Clinton against Republicans in Iowa and Colorado.
This fits another pattern of hers, Todd said. Whenever shes been out front as the face of the Democratic Party, her numbers have gone down. They always have, whenever she is the focal point.
When asked why that is, Todd answered Americans like Clinton more when she is in a supportive or operative role.
You could just simply say she doesnt wear well, Todd said.

Obviously, as I stated in the OP, it's only July and anything can happen. But the meme that Sanders is unelectable, that he can't win the primary let alone the general, should be put to rest.
He can and he will win the White House!

(10,499 posts)has been talking about. What is important to the media is not what is good for elections. They get better ratings showing these bombastic, childish comments rather than informing us of policy positions of these candidates. I wonder what would happen if they all did their jobs by asking all of these candidates their policy positions on the issues of the day instead of "What do you think of Trump's comment about you and your Mexican wife..."
Bernie had to train reporters on how to interview him! These networks rely upon the PUBLIC AIRWAVES to do business. They are OUR AIRWAVES!!! All the more reason to get Bernie in and revamp the FCC as well, getting rid of the industry insiders and make them protect the public airwaves.

(8,950 posts)"The earlier you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up."
Bernie has been behind since the beginning, so he has all kinds of time to catch up.
It appears that this is really starting to happen.
I believe, that HRC will never admit that she's behind and won't until that first
primary. By then, it might be too late.

(7,231 posts)LGBT issues, PoC issues, immigration issues, we can now scrap electability from the list of considerations too?
This is awesome. These primaries become more and more about policies and policies alone.
No primaries were ever so much about just substance.

----------------------------------
Colorado - HRC 6% BS 39%
Iowa - HRC 9% BS 39%
Virginia - HRC 7% BS 46%
That gives Bernie a LOT to work with. Hillary is tapped out.
marym625
(17,997 posts)Thanks for that. Makes it pretty clear
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)Hillary go into situations where she will be faced with questions by real people. AND why we are seeing all the distractions. And they thought they could smear Bernie enough before people got to know him, that they wouldn't bother.
But none of the obvious attempts to do that worked, remember the 'socialist' meme, and the 'not electable' try, not 'viable' 'can't beat Republicans' 'Too far left' etc
People are not stupid, once they get a chance to hear someone for themselves, not the interpretation of those with an agenda, they know who is for them and who is not.
Hillary has an issues problem. And it's only going to get worse as time passes.
However, I do not count out the nastiness that we can expect. All that corporate money is going to be spent on taking him out of competition. So far, his supporters have been doing a great job of destroying the lies.
People cannot give up or get discouraged, that is the goal. In fact, as Manny, said we should be energized by these attempts to smear him, it is a sign of how worried they are, and they know better than we do from all their internal polls, what the real story is.

(2,062 posts)Look, any poll right now is basically meaningless. Hillary could go through the roof, Bernie could go through the roof, O'Malley could..hmmmm well maybe not, but anyway..no debates yet, no primaries yet.... plus who were the voters polled, just 1200 or so out of all the states population..... I'll wait until we get into primary season before I jump off a cliff.

(17,997 posts)He went from literally 0% to this in a couple months. It's good and encouraging news.
Yes, anything can happen. But ya know what? This has.
Yup he went from 0% to 35% or so in a few months, and its wonderful for those who support their specific candidate, but to walk the cliff because there are down poll numbers this far out?.........come on....
marym625
(17,997 posts)Which is to support Sanders.

(2,062 posts)yes indeed I am, and whats your point.......your guy went from 0-35%... my point is...ok you know my point about polls now....
marym625
(17,997 posts)And your 4 posts on this thread do not do that. One post would be letting me know what your thoughts are on the polls. Four is belittling his surge.
You know exactly what my point was. And you know exactly why I just blocked you
question everything
(47,572 posts)You are happy, jumping for joy, because Rubio, Bush and Walker are leading both Clinton and Sanders in Iowa, Virginia and Colorado?
Looks to me that, except for Iowa against Bush, all three Republicans are leading Sanders more than Clinton. But I think that all are within the margin of error - 37 vs. 38?

(17,997 posts)This -> is The Bernie Bounce
Second, Bernie went from 0% to this so yeah, I'm thrilled.
Third, the polls regarding the repugs are immaterial in this context.
Finally, just like Bernie has gained so much in the polls in such an incredibly short time, he will skyrocket once the debates start. No one can hold a candle to him.
Anything can happen and it is happening!

(32,127 posts)Certain people who like the way things are now (ie billionaires) will make sure this happens. It won't just be the BLM incident, he will be targeted in other ways as well. Anyone who talks seriously about class is a threat to the oligarchs in charge of this country and they will make up or create scandals if they have to.
As advocates for Bernie we are going to have to dig in and get ready for work (defend him).
marym625
(17,997 posts)That's just SOMETIMES. Because sometimes, though there maybe swift boating behind some of it, some of it is legitimate and letting the campaign and Sanders address it is the best thing we can do. Which happened and it's helped.
On other such things, we're ready. His record speaks for itself!
and it's hard to know exactly where things are coming from at times. Waiting it out a little can be very good advice.

(5,400 posts)"The Inevitable Candidate" is now also known for having high negatives, and for consistently falling numbers. However you approach the matter, through charts and graphs, or just discussing it, you have one campaign losing popularity, and another gaining it.
If Biden enters it will look like an influential part of the moderate center has lost confidence in HRC.
