Sen. Sanders announced his stand on the nuclear agreement during an interview to air Sunday on CBS News Face the Nation. Im not going to tell you that this is a perfect agreement. And every agreement can be better, Sanders added. This is what I saw recently in the Republican debate. Its so easy to be critical of an agreement which is not perfect. But the United States has to negotiate with other countries. We have to negotiate with Iran. And the alternative of not reaching an agreement, you know what it is? Its war. Do we really want another war, a war with Iran?

After a Friday afternoon discussion with President Barack Obama, Sen. Bernie Sanders said he supports an agreement with Iran intended to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon.
Sanders announced his stand on the nuclear agreement during an interview to air Sunday on CBS News Face the Nation. He told the host, John Dickerson, that the United States should pursue the diplomatic solution to stopping Iran from developing a nuclear weapon and make sure that we achieve that goal of Iran not having a nuclear weapon without going to war.
The Senate is expected to vote when Congress reconvenes in September on a resolution of disapproval designed to block the agreement forged by the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, China, Russia and Iran. The resolution is expected to pass in the Republican-controlled House and Senate but White House officials are trying to round up enough support to block a veto.

And the alternative of not reaching an agreement, you know what it is? Its war. Do we really want another war, a war with Iran?
In a separate interview with The New York Times, Sanders said his talk with the president solidified his support for the agreement. I had some questions that I addressed to the president, and he responded. The answers that he gave me helped me reach the final conclusion.

(16,377 posts)I'm very glad he's supporting the agreement and even more glad he's being interviewed on FTN. Dickerson seems to be miles better as an interviewer than the hacks on NBC and ABC's Sunday shows.

Maybe he should serve them tea and crumpets too?

(9,688 posts)Like, discussion about an agreement with the P5+1 and Iran shouldn't interest anyone except those who "the uploader" considers OK.
Y'all understand that this is happening?

(9,688 posts)That the Iran deal was a deal between the P5+1 and Iran, so encompassed the interests of the entire planet and not just "bubble-usa-bubble", didn't occur to the uploader.
