Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumGiven BLM's co-founder has come out is support of the Seattle protesters, I think
the notion that the "real" BLM is critical of what happened there can be ditched. (Babel 17 on another thread posted this.)

Mara Jacqueline and Marissa Jenae deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. They are apart of BLM. I support them in their leadership. Please discontinue harming them through social media. If you have questions about what Black Lives Matter's does. Please message me. I'm tired of folks not being principled or just hateful for no good reason.
BLM did not circulate a petition asking for an apology. We are not circulating articles that are slandering these women's names. Cut this shit out, yall.

Personally I don't know whether to laugh at cry at her being "tired of folks not being principled or just hateful for no good reason" and stating that "Mara Jacqueline and Marissa Jenae deserve to be treated with respect and dignity".

(10,650 posts)they wouldn't be receiving this well earned blowback.
And if BLM supports what happened in Seattle, they are politically clueless at the top.

Sorry, if the majority of BLM starts to endorse these actions then I'm going to start ignoring their movement and getting back to the real issues like racism, police brutality and all the original issues we were fighting.

(18,791 posts)How about cutting the bullshit crap dumped on Bernie Sanders?
And how old are those nitwits? Still in their teens?
That alone pisses me off.

(36,063 posts)I know the notion of earning respect is popular, and I think there is sometimes confusion...
When a person is talking about respecting ability and merits of others, it certainly is something that is earned. When you step into an interaction with a stranger in polite company, you start respectfully.
The BLM Seattle protestors can't be said to have behaved that way. What they earned is distrust, what they cast aside was that default respect.

(2,358 posts)Watched a clip of their "shut down" of Bernie' s rally. Physically hanging on speakers and yelling. The young men with them seemed embarrassed. It was cringeworthy.

(14,807 posts)spreading false facts, rumors and false accusations about Bernie. This is fueling the problem IMHO.
