(54,699 posts)I flew out on the 6:40 plane to München (Munich), no de-icing was even necessary. But when we landed in Bavaria, the ground was covered with snow, and a nasty wind was blowing. MUCH colder down there.
I WAS happy that I had decided to take the train back. It even left on time. BUT--this is the German train system (thou shallt not repair thy trains, or even maintain them properly). So now the train has stopped at Montabaur, between Frankfurt and Köln, to "test" the train and see if it can be trusted to travel any further. If not, they will probably tell us to leave the train, stand outside in the cold and damp, and wait 45 minutes while they send another train from wherever it is they might have one that can roll 200 km without falling apart.
