4. Cal Poly Humboldt was Humboldt State University until this school year.

California put a chunk of money into HSU to remake as CPH with more focus on STEM and more students.

There is also a new university president. The school year started rocky because there was not housing for the new students. The administration kicked returning students out of the dorms for the new students. Heard numbers that 15% or more of the student body was homeless. The homeless students camped on campus and in the freeway right of way. Administration came down hard with threats. Ultimately motels were leased and there is more student housing under construction. There was also an athletic sexual abuse scandal I know little about that many think the new administration handled poorly and swept under a rug. The faculty voted by 70% that the new president and his chief of staff resign. The reaction of the president was to go to ground and become invisible for months. Meanwhile, the protests grew and administrations' response was to get more heavy handed.
