Graham Chapman, for whatever reason, thought the skit was later and didn't come out leaving Palin making coughing and retching sounds for longer than normal, so Cleese, who wasn't in the skit but was dressed for the next one, came out and did the lines perfectly. The next skit featured him as a bishop. So Bishop Cleese steps out, and the first line is, "Now I understand you want to marry my daughter?"
