4. I had originally planned to see the eclipse in Texas, and that fell through.

So I'd resigned myself to only seeing a partial version until my sister in Kansas called me to say she'd figured out a way to see it. I've driven to Overland Park, where I am now and had WONDERFUL barbecue for dinner -- honestly, I would be happy to have only barbecue on the rare times i get to visit here, and trust me, Kansas City barbecue is the absolute best in the country. Don't bother to argue or attempt a counter claim.

Anyway, she's booked us a hotel in St. Louis. We'll drive there Sunday, visit a bookstore, and on Monday drive a bit south. She'd originally planned to go to Cape Girardeau, but given the uncertainties of the travel, we are not planning on stopping in Jackson, MO.

I got to see totality in 2017 in Nebraska with some friends, and that was incredible. This should be even more incredible.

For those of you who are younger than me, plan on seeing the August 12, 2045. Look it up. Totality in 2017 was a bit over two minutes. This one will be a bit over 4 minutes. In 2045, it will be more than six minutes. I'm hoping to see that one. It's a few days before my 97th birthday, and while I'm an incurable optimist on such things, realistically I know I may not be here to see it. But all of you reading this do the math and make appropriate plans.
