It is more analogous to the Soviet's war in Afghanistan. The outcome could be similar also, the fall of our form of government.

Bleu states. (on edit: I did a French spelling of Bleu- A anti merrican slip) Remember listening to someone on talk radio advocating that after 2000 election when they thought Bush might not be appointed and it would go to Gore.

The CIA had all kinds of "contractors" doing all sorts of dirty work. They also bribed several of the indigenous tribes to work for us as mercenaries apart from ARVN.
Even so, you are right, this is a much different war.
