I detect a really bad vibe throughout the whole US |
|
The Iraq war, the school killings, the brain dead person, peak oil, unemployment, social security, cheney. The feeling I have is just about as bad as it was around the time of the LA riots in April 92. I dreaded this happening when bush stole it 2000. The worst part is that we are going to have to wait out another 4 years before it's over. I am not sure the country is going to hold it together that long.

Your implication is that our state (of the country) has been ever thus. That would be wholly incorrect and misleading. We have not been in these waters before.

We've been splashing in these waters since we started slaughtering the original tenants of this land. All that you see now, is the culmination and evolution of 200 plus years of "B.S."

We should focus in 2005 on vote counting/casting reform, and then turn attention to the 2006 election.

Marc Maron does a rant in an Air America ad that sums it up: We're in for more unemployment, homeless people, suicides, violence, drug addiction, etc. We're already starting to see it (how many multiple shootings in the past week alone?) -- people are angry and spoiling for a fight (which may explain the strong feelings on both sides of the Schiavo case). It won't just end when Chimperor's term ends, either ... The changes they've wrought on this country will endure, as will the effects. I'm trying to stay hopeful but it's growing very difficult for me.

And you know what...it's the repukes' arrogance and flaunting their illegal powers in the most extreme Thuggery that will bring things to a boil. They don't have any boundaries and it is showing to even the simplest dimwits who voted for them.
Off topic...what is your picture about?

22. Yes, the speakers are gigantic. |
|
Certain extreme hobbyists, primarily in Japan obtained the speakers from old 1920's- 1930's movie theaters from the US and use them their homes. This is the far far margin.

There can be no other conclusion but that the RW wants to see the destruction of the USA. Why else would they work so hard to divide us and sow discontent and spew hatred on the radio every day? How is it good for America for someone to get on the radio and encourage half the population to hate the other half?

23. I keep thinking about the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. We |
|
watch the circuses while the emperor desecrates all that the republic stood for at one time, ably assisted by his senatorial minions (and the House of Representatives). The final straw for me was hearing of a proposal to speed up the citizenship process for any foreigner willing to enlist in our war(s). The people rooting for the troops are often the same ones totally bankrupt of patriotism because, while they support the cause, they only support in within the parameters of their safe little world. I am a liberal and although my husband and son are in the military, I do NOT support the * war of "liberation". Where the hell are the weapons of mass destruction? Let's not worry about that little question though, folks, step right up and watch Congress save poor little Terri from those horrible people who want to kill her. Thousands of our boys and girls are dead or wounded, you say? Hey, Michael Jackson showed up TWO minutes late to court today but he wasn't wearing pajama bottoms. Thanks, MSM, I sure could get confused about what the priorities were if it weren't for your inspired propaganda, um, I mean news. Rant off, for now.

here in PA last year...and we won here in PA. But I predicted that Bush would win nationally. I sincerely believe that Bush will be one of the most despised presidents in history when he leaves office. We clearly weren't there yet in 2004, but I still believe it. But that means we'll all have to hold on tight. Oh yes, oh yes, it will be bad...

What does that tell you, especially after our experience in the 2000 election where votes for Gore disappeared all over the country, not just in Florida?

is part of some sinister master plan -- to degrade so many's sense of what is valuable in government -- due process, fairness, democracy and civility. qui bono from the destruction of these principles of community? fascists. and the republicans, with their inside track to the ballot box, are beyond repudiation.
that's what i see. i don't know where it'll lead.

34. I think one of the real problems is... |
|
that the GOP is able to conjure up their following at will and ambush any particular situation/subject that may be at hand... we democrats, on the other hand, take years of torment and unjust treatment before we will come together as a people and finally defeat the censorship, injustice, war-mongering, and religious push.
I really believe that if the democrats could come together as well as the republicans we would wipe out the competition every time.
Additionally, ignorance is easier to control than intelligence.
