Have you ever found money? |
|
What did you do with it?
I'm not talking about finding a wallet or a purse with ID...I'm talking about finding money on the ground.
Friend of mine found $500 on the ground outside a quick stop a couple of weeks ago.

1. I found $35 when I was a kid. |
|
My parents pulled into a service station, and I found it on the ground as I headed to the restroom.
My mom tried to get me to give it to the attendant, saying it might be his. My dad told her that the attendant would most likely agree whether it was his or not; and said I should keep it. So I did.

2. Most I ever found was $10 |
|
In a nightclub. I kept it. Too many people to go and question to see if they lost $10 or not.
I'm sure I've lost money in bars/clubs before.
I lost my wallet in the same club that I found the $10 in. Got a call the next day saying they found the wallet with everything in it. I keep my money and my wallet separate.

9. reminds me that I found a wallet where I worked as a janitor |
|
It had about $60 in it, but also ID and such, so he got all his money back. Ironically, it was one of my former students, who was not a very nice student. Theoretically I could have said I never found it and kept the money. I also got two books of stamps from a stamp machine, and as I was waiting to tell them that the machine might not be working right when another person came out with the postal worker complaining that he paid for stamps that he never got. So I gave him the 2nd book, explaining that I got two.

3. Yes, many times. I recently found a $10 bill in the change return |
|
of a self-checkout at Albertsons. I gave it to the checker and told her that if someone didn't come back to look for their change, she could donate it to their food shelf fund. A few months ago I did the same with a $5 bill I found in the change return.
Not that long ago, I found $10 in the parking lot at Albertsons, and a few years ago, I found a $20 bill in the parking lot. Both of those times I kept the money.
Apparently, the only place I find money (other than coins) is Albertsons.

4. I found about $50-$100 on the floor of a convenience store. |
|
I turned it in to the clerk, whom I knew and could trust to try to find the owner. Turns out it belonged to a woman who had cashed her paycheck and then dropped some of it. She wanted me to have $5 as a reward, which I thought was nice.

7. I find money all the time |
|
In high school the marching band was practicing outside and I found a $5 bill on the practice field - saw it out of the corner of my eye. The other day at work I was emptying trash and found a $10 on the ground. I picked it up and kept it. What else are you supposed to do? If someone came looking for it, I would return it, but how are you supposed to find the owner? At work once I saw some money on the floor and expected to be happy. When I saw it was $100, I felt bad. What was I supposed to do - advertise that I found it and have potentially bogus claims come forward? I told my supervisor and my BiL who is in management. My thinking was that maybe another supervisor would tell a story about one of their people crying about a lost $100 bill and then I would get it back to them. It never happened though.

10. $20 found me once. I was putting groceries away in my car |
|
and it was windy. It blew across the parking lot and hit me in the leg. There was no one else outside at the time. I kept it.
(I have returned money when getting incorrect change and once returned a bottle of Butterscotch schnapps when it was packed into my bag by mistake - and by the way the liquor store clerk looked at me like I was an idiot for returning it.)

20 cents hidden in my wallet.
Don't laugh.
I was dying for a Coke and I only had 65 cents. I've never been so happy to find 4 nickels in my life.
Ahhh...cold Coke!
Ok, so that's not really what you meant... ;)

16. I never found a large sum but |
|
occasionally coins. When I moved into my house I found $60 pinned to the back of a curtain in one of the bedrooms. The woman who lived here died and her children did not a very good job of cleaning it up so I just kept it.

17. YES $140.00 in a parking lot at Reunion Arena, Dallas. |
|
Kicked it accidentally and a ball of money broke open. I was on my way to stand in line for some concert tickets. I asked around if anyone found some money hoping someone would say they lost some money, also, but no one did. I felt bad that someone lost it, but I knew that everyone in line would say it was their money.
