Haunted by "Brokeback Mountain"...can't focus on my work... |
|
Good lord, is it possible to get PTSD from a movie?
I can't stop thinking about Ennis & Jack, feeling sorry for them. I keep hearing the soundtrack in my head. I've had two unproductive days now.
I know I'm a sensitive person, but I think I'm taking it a bit far.

this is a very common side effect for this movie. :)
Just about everyone I know who has seen it has literally been haunted by the film for weeks, even months after. The first time I saw it, I walked out moved but okay. When I found myself still thinking about it almost three weeks after seeing it, I realized just what a powerful film it had been.
Ang Lee created a piece of transcendent art with that film.
On edit:
For me, the guitar piece from the film is like the dinner bell for Pavlov's dog! I just have to hear a few bars of it and I am right back in the movie, crying like a baby! It was pretty tough going there during the run-up to the awards season and the music was playing everywhere! :D
I had to see the movie twice more in the theatre before it finally lost its hold on me.
My Mom saw it twice in the theatre and bough the DVD the first day it came out so she could sob in the privacy of her own living room.

dissapointed in the way the relationship was handled. It was still a hollywood interpretation of a love story.

5. What do you think was "Hollywood" about it? |
|
I'm just curious.
It struck me as very real. I didn't think any punches were pulled. I found every step the relationship took to be very believeable.
