Insurance is not quite what it's cracked up to be.
Single payer or bust!

i got tonsillitis earlier this month and it cost me $70 just to get into the doc. i got damn lucky as far as the antibiotics go, though. my insurance ran out at the end of march and a few days before i went to the doc because i thought i was getting an ear infection. it turned out it was just some generic crud that was going around and would likely clear up on its own, but she gave me some antibiotics in case it didn't because she knew i my insurance was almost up. luckily, the other doc prescribed the same meds for the tonsillitis so i didn't have to drop the $150 or so bucks the prescription would have cost me.
i hope your finger feels better

I paid $1250 for meds this week. Just sayin. Hope you get better though, 60 bucks is not bad for uninsured doctor visit.

6. I have insurance, but it's $10,000 deductible. |
|
6 weeks ago I broke my collarbone, and for an ER visit, figure 8 brace, 1 x-ray, and 1 shot of painkiller my cost was $850. Without the "discounts" from my having some insurance, it would have been around $1300.:grr:

7. Yeah, those deductibles are a joke. |
|
Now all you need to do is break 8 more bones THIS YEAR, and they'll start paying. I mean, :wtf:?

that only insured people can consistently get the health care they need. Just drives me crazy thinking about it.
I went to the E.R with stomach cramps - they gave me i.v fluids, meds for nausea, took 3 x-rays, and drew blood. The bill, had I not been insured, would have been $2,700.
