4. 3.5 hours and over the Sierra Nevada Mountains (7200 feet) |
|
it's warm enough that i shouldn't hit much snow. i'm looking forward to helping and Nevada and Reno are so familiar to me, it seemed like a natural to go up there and help out.
folks at the campaign here said the campaigns in the battleground states are a lot of fun.
only bad thing is that Palin will be there on Monday :puke:   oh well.

Campaigning in the non-real Northern Virginia (suddenly they matter to him!) But on the plus side I believe Obama will be over there tomorrow!

9. McCain and Palin almost never come here and never appear in public |
|
and they only come for money --there are no votes for them here, even in the suburbs they get trounced. my suburban county gave Kerry a 40 percent margin.
last time Palin was here, they kept it a secret until just before and it was invitation only. didn't even give the Republicans much of a heads-up and only big, big donors were invited to the small event.

8. Very cool. So many volunteers...I'm just so impressed with them. |
|
I phonebanked in the Bay Area today (called Colorado for GOTV and called San Jose area for volunteers for GOTV). lots of nice people excited here in the Bay Area and helping the campaign.
My initial impression with the campaign is that the key staffers running things are very swift and organized and very aware that the campaign is a dynamic thing with adjustments being made continually. Our leader was keenly aware that Colorado voters were being inundated by calls so she told us how to call them and make it short, sweet and friendly, which meant deviating from the script.
Obama has a 22-27 point lead statewide. contrast that with Kerry's 10 point win, and he got 69% of the vote in the 7+million Bay Area. If Obama has a 22-27 point lead, he's got to be over 80% in the Bay Area, which is stunning, the Bay Area is liberal, but those numbers are San Francisco liberal. Outstanding!
