There are almost no .38 caliber, 9mm caliber or .223 caliber ammunitions available. Reaction to a democrat for president. Don't remember that when Clinton was elected and Barack appears to be gun friendly.

Note: .223 is not the same as 5.56mm

I need some AR mags for a class, they are unbelievably high. Ammo has gone through the roof if you can even find any. It's almost $300 per case for 5.56 ball ammo. Part of that shortage is the war, part of it was the high price of brass, and the rest is flat out panic buying. Did you ever see an otherwise rational educated professional hoard ten thousand rounds of 5.56?
I firmly believe that the tin foil crowd is going to really be disappointed when Obama doesn't take the bait and try to enact some kind of ban. He's a product of Chicago politics and they're big on gun bans there but I honestly believe he'll see that doesn't play well in the rest of the nation.
That whacked out HR45 that has been submitted by Rep. Rush isn't helping things. Many of my friends have their tin foil on their heads and are howling "the sky is falling, it's falling I tell you!" much to my amusement.

5. Remember the toilet paper scare... |
|
1973: The Johnny Carson Toilet Paper Scare — Johnny Carson makes a joke about the United States facing an acute shortage of toilet paper. This prompts viewers to run out to stores and begin hoarding. Carson apologizes the next day for causing the scare and retracts his quote. http://rrnews.org/rd010505.htm

6. It just means you should have stocked up |
|
While you had the chance.
I have almost 10k rounds of ammo and won't shoot any of it, I just shoot the ammo I reload as its much cheaper.

9. The first big ammo run I remember |
|
was when Clinton was threatening to make primer manufacturers produce primers with a 3 year (IIRC) shelf life. Primers were extremely difficult to get and were expensive as was ammo.

10. When Clinton was elected, most people didn't think he and the DLC would actually pass any bans... |
|
so a lot of us got burned, badly, by the 1994 Feinstein law.
Barack is not particularly gun-friendly (he has endorsed banning a lot of popular guns), but is not a crusader on the issue. Biden, on the other hand, does have a history as a crusader on the issue, and there is a fear that the administration might pass another ban on AR-15's, protruding handgrips, and post-1860's magazine capacities. The appointment of Holder as AG (a Janet Reno/Alberto Gonzales rerun on gun issues) adds to that a bit.
So there is a small but nonzero chance that the most popular rifles in America, and the most popular magazines, could be banned in the next few years, and a lot of people are thinking "If I ever want gun X, I might want to get it now just in case."
