First in Line in NJ -- Dumb schmuck messes up new machine
I've waited four years for this moment and I didn't want to delay the joy for a single moment. I was in line at 5:40.

But I was second to vote because one of the poll workers put himself first. Wouldn't you know it the clown was a Bush voter and he messed up the new electronic voting machine. So we had to wait 40 minutes for a technician to show up.

Moral: if someone is dumb enough to vote for Bush, don't give him an important task like working an electronic voting machine.

But I voted and it felt good. No, it felt great. I made a new friend while waiting in line. The overall tone was very pro Kerry.

I don't think it's going to be close. I think Kerry is going to win by at least 5 points.

1. I hope you got his name. This may have been a scam.

7. This occurred to me also
How do you know this clown didn't screw up the machine on purpose? I don't put anything past them -- including taking inordinate amounts of time in the voting booths in order to tie up the lines waiting to get in.

13. He's not too smart
When he announced that he had called the technician, I quipped "so help is on the way"

He didn't get it but others did.

Of course, if I were paranoid:

he told people there would be a wait to discourage them from waiting.

he offered emergency paper ballots with the intention of throwing them down the drain....

I just think he's a klutz.

9. Mr. 007, I did a baaaaaaaaad thing.
Your HTML hotline blurb? I nicked it. Put it at the top of the website in my sig. Yeah, I'm a thief.

But all things considered, I didn't think you'd mind. ;-)

6. It was an AVC Advantage machine
They told me it creates some kind of paper record, but apparently just a running total or something.

10. How I know he was a Bush voter
While trying to get the machine to work he put it in "audio mode." This is for blind voters, who apparently can "speak" their vote. I heard him saying "B" which is the republican column in NJ.

Things are a little loose in NJ. Heard lots of political discussions in line and some people were wearing campaign buttons (Kerry, of course.) I'm not uptight about this stuff, the county is heavily democratic and the town board sent out its "non-partisan" endorsement of Kerry.

Frankly if there's going to be any shenanigans, I would suspect they would be in favor of the Dems.

8. He should be arrested!
This is an obvious attempt by a Fasist to prevent Democrats from voting!

12. With all due respect to most of the poll workers . . .
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 07:59 AM by tilsammans
. . . some of them ain't too swift.

When I went to vote in the primary (also in NJ, and in a heavily Republican district), the voting-machine attendant was unable to reset the machine so that I could vote as a Democrat. The machine appeared locked on the Republican slate. I had to go to an adjacent machine.

Or maybe the machine was set up that way? Makes me wonder.
