The RW/GOP has successfully knocked several issues off Page 1 |
|
The DSM appears to have fallen into the memory hole, as they wanted
Delay is off the front page and he's now free to stir up the fundies over the Roberts nomination with no shame (as if he ever had any).
Rove/Libby/Traitor To Be Named Later have had their problems driven away, at least temporarily.
I'm not sure what will happen with the DSM, but Delay's problems have disappeared only temporarily. I have faith in Ronnie Earle.
Plamegate hopefully will explode at sometime between now and October.
Or will it?

2. I'm starting to wonder if ... |
|
most of the dumbed down America can even hold their interest in one story for very long. We're in an age of quick news and flash in the pan stories. Most of the idiots are just waiting for the next big thing. The next big divorce story, or missing girl, plane crash, or reality show. Any story that actually takes awhile to develop and get all the facts out...fuck it. "We ain't interested." If ya can't explain it to me in 1 minute, I'm outta here.
*sigh*

3. After losing 23 marines in just three days, I believe the media |
|
will substitute the treason story with Iraq's problems. The will not link the two. However, this means we must be ever vigilant with word of mouth to all on how the DSM, Wilson and Iraq stories are all one sad story of how a President and his party took us to war over a lie.

Or is our "strategy" to cross our fingers and hope Republican owned journalists do it for them?

Media Dems are out of touch and more likely to be DLC media whores - thats why we don't see many Dean interviews on TV. The media would rather trash him then let him speak for himself.

So he is "allowed" and "invited" on tv.
I believe he did mention the DSM once- but not during the hearings and several weeks after the internet community already knew about it.

4. DSM will be a vital issue in ' 06 and '08 and beyond |
|
along with gay marriage, Rove-Plame, Delay, VietNam issues, and Gitmo abuse.
Republicans will foolishly waste their rhetoric on things like, foreign affairs, the economy, and the Supreme Court.

As these 23 Marines made the ultimate sacrifice, the "Big Scoop" was watching the televised media explain for hour upon hour how the shuttle astronauts were going to pull a piece of plastic from the hull. All said, the "space hero " tweezed it out with his thumb and index finger.
UTTERLY DISGRACEFUL, don't you think?
These brave Americans are a much more worthy topic for the news. We should know all we can about them as they have been robbed of the opportunity to introduce themselves to us in person.
Well, I am not a multi national conglomerate, but as one person, I would like to express my deepest sympathy and complete gratitude to all of the families of those who have been lost in this war. I am hopeful that everyone else does the same.

and get another story onto page 1. Create another distraction. I wouldn't be surprised to find NASA was told they will launch, or else just to get something else onto page 1.
Summer is supposed to be slow for news. This year has been different all the way around.

6. Who is stopping Democrats with media access from discussing these issues?? |
|
Who is stopping Kerry, Dean, hillary, Reid, Obama, etc,etc from discussing these issues on those debate & interview shows?
When was the last time yuo heard a Democrat with media access even MENTION the DSM?
Why are will still counting on Republican "journalists" to say what our leaders should be shouting from the mountain tops?
One of the problems is that DEMs with media access wont discuss the DSM- prove me wrong- what did Kerry, Dean, Hillary, Reid say about it today? Yesterday? Last week? The week before that?
We can blame the GOP owned media, but how far will that really get us?

11. Either they aren't invited...or they've given up....or they don't care.... |
|
Which is it? I have no idea and I've wracked my brain over it...wondering why is it just Biden, Dodd, Lieberman, Bayh who speak for us on the dwindling "Pundit/Discussion() shows on cable and networks.
I think either they aren't asked, they don't want to show up, or they go along with Bush but don't want their constituents to know that they go along with Bush.
How else could a good Dem explain what's going on. We don't see Conyers and the rest discussing the "DEM HEARINGS" over "Election Fraud," "Downing Street Minutes" or "Plame/Wilson." WHY???? Maybe not enough of us have phoned, faxed or e-mailed the WHORE TV MEDIA to make a difference??????

In fact, I've heard that top Senators get "bumped up" ahead of other guests when they agree to be on.
No one is turning down guranteed ratings from Hillary, Kerry, Obama & Dean appearances on various news & debate shows?
I've never, ever ever heard a DEM publicaly say that they have been "banned" or "censored" from those shows.
The fact is that the top DEMs dont agree with the base and wish we would pipe down and let them focus on the "safe" issues that we are supposed to support.

Although there is true opposition to this administration in the House and Senate, especially those whom you had mentioned, these people's opinions are confined to their desire for self-preservation. Further, they have seemed to express an interest, although milder, in restricting the transparency of our government.
Example: Over 40 Democrats voted to passe the revisions to the USA PATRIOT ACT. I might add that I never hear a single word mentioned in direct opposition of this act by people whom I respect in government (those you had mentioned.)
Example: Our president and his administration have lied to both the Senate and House on several occasions. These blatant lies would be easy to bring charges for; yet, we hear nothing from our representatives about it. It is a felony to lie to Congress, no matter who you are.
Example: It is illegal for groups like the "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" to institutionally align themselves with any government organization or committee such as the GOP. This is more complicated, but I am sure both money and ideas were exchanged between at least Mr. Rove, Mr. Mehlman, and SB Vets; Yet no Democrat took any formal charges to them.
So, as I hope you can see, one of the problems with these otherwise dignified men and women is that they seem to be afraid to make a solid stand for the sake of their own interests.
They should know that some things are worth "dying" for.
Thx

10. Not surprising given the amount of money and "marketing BRAINS" they |
|
have on their "payroll." They were never going down "easy." They may never go down at all. It might end up a "slow crawl" to stand up against them for us Dems.
They've been at it for decades. "Sleeping Dems" just allowed it because no one rocked the boat too hard until "9/11."
We deal with that...in one fashion or the other for decades to come.
Sorry if I sound (((((doom & gloom)))) We are up against a foe we've not seen before.

Newspapers write about breaking news on Page 1. Plame and DSM and so on have received extensive coverage. Belated, but extensive. And when new events in those stories surface, they will be back on Page 1. The right wing and GOP had nothing to do with bumping them off Page 1, newer news like 20-odd soldiers dying in 24 hours did.
