letter to the "President" and the White House response:
Me:
BUSH! Please stop. Please just go away and let some sane people take over what is left of this country. I don't know how much more I can take. I have come to no personal harm during any of your insane misadministration, but, nonetheless, you are ruining my life. From the shit you pulled during the recount in 2000, through 9/11 and the anthrax attacks, the buildup to the Iraq War and its aftermath, your cheating in the Presidential debates and the rigged election and now the disaster in the South, I have spent countless hours worrying over what was going to happen and trying to get the real facts (as I live in a reality-based World) while you, your government and the media fed me lies and bullshit. Every day I get up wondering what the hell is going to go wrong next. Even if none of the tragedies of this decade were your fault (which I don't believe for a moment) any employee who had so many disasters happen on their watch would be fired, no driver with so many accidents could expect their insurance not to be cancelled, no business owner could expect to avoid bankruptcy when they screwed up so famously so many times. Why are you different? You used to be in the baseball business, where managers are fired for poor performance all the time, you are zero for god-knows- how-many and we are supposed to cheer you on? I am frustrated, angry, sad and depressed twenty-four hours a day seven days a week and I am sure I am not alone. You, on the other hand, seem to thrive on this shit. So please, take your bike and pickles and your two kids and go back to your ranch. Tell all the incompetent millionaire thieves you have appointed to high office to go home and enjoy their wealth, otherwise, I suspect they will someday have to defend it with their lives-and it will not be pretty. Picture one of your daughters or Cheney's face down in the water with her pants around her ankles- her picture on the internet for the whole World to see-and no one bothering to collect her corpse. Just in case you don't know about that, I can e-mail you the picture. It happened in OUR country on YOUR watch. So just go away please and take your cronies with you. The sane, reality-based community will collect the dead, extricate us from Iraq and try to put the pieces of this country back together.

On behalf of President Bush, thank you for your correspondence. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, President Bush and all Americans send their thoughts and prayers to the families of those who have lost lives and to all those affected by this natural disaster.
The President is directing Federal agencies throughout the government to do all in their power to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The top priority is to save and sustain lives. President Bush established a White House task force to oversee Hurricane Katrina response and recovery, and he convened a Cabinet meeting to ensure that Federal agencies' efforts are timely and fully coordinated. Residents of the Gulf Coast states affected by the hurricane have lost loved ones, lost homes, and been displaced from their communities, and they will have the full support of the Federal government.
The President has called for the coordination of all parties involved in the response and relief efforts. Federal, state, and local governments are working side-by-side to deliver relief to the areas physically damaged by Hurricane Katrina and to communities across the South that will be affected in the aftermath of the storm. Efforts and resources are focused on saving lives, sustaining lives, and supporting long-term recovery. For information and guidance you may wish to visit the FEMA website at www.fema.gov or call 800-621-3362 or 800-621-FEMA.
The President has called on all Americans to support the relief and rescue efforts through charitable contributions and aid. Americans who wish to contribute can do so by contacting charities that are assisting with hurricane relief. For more information on relief and recovery efforts, please visit the USAFreedom Corps website at www.usafreedomcorps.gov.
Thank you again for taking the time to write.
