Obama within 5% of Hillary; Edwards a distant third. |

2008 Democratic Presidential Primary Clinton 28% Obama 23% Edwards 13% http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Political%20Tracking/Democratic%20Primaries/DemocraticPresidentialPrimary.htmOf course it's all a poor predictor at this point, but it's still fun to watch. I do believe it is unlikely Edwards will ever poll above Obama, however.

1. These thing change so much, and we're too far out. |
|
Edwards could make a comeback, Obama could surge, or Hillary could pull away from the pack. Hell, one of these second tier candidates could make a name for themselves and in a year lead the pack. We just don't know. It's a good indicator of things right now, but things will and should change!!

4. The "PTB" went after Edwards this week...they are lying in wait for Obama |
|
and that's the way it works. I wonder why Obama get's better press than Edwards, though...
Maybe just to pump him WAY UP...so he can FALL...WAY DOWN? That's the way the MS Corporate Media do things. :-(

because he gave a great announcement speech.
Edwards didn't do anything this week that could compete with that.

that he kept his organization in place. Hardly any media attention and yet he's ahead of the other frontrunners. If he solved world hunger himself, you wouldn't find it impressive.

I believe my judgment is based on a sound and reasonable evaluation of his merits. He's a trial lawyer and a good one, but that's it.

29. A few reasons why Obama is more prepared for the job. |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 08:08 PM by Clarkie1
He's done community organizing...real in the trenches community organizing.
He has a degree in constitutional law from Harvard....that constitution is important!
He's a better writer
He's a better orator
He's not in it so much for himself...Edwards whole life seems dedicated to being a Presidential wannabe
He has more integrity (yes, I hold Edwards accountable for IWR)
He understands the world better...he's lived outside the U.S.
He doesn't strike me a a slick-speaking political wannabe, he strikes me as a leader.
There are millions of people in the U.S.A., in my opinion, who would be a greater President than Edwards. There are far fewer who would be better than Obama or Richardson. I doubt there are any who would be better than Clark. Obama's biggest negative is a lack of experience, but intelligence, vision, and integrity can make up for some of that.

25. Obama had a terrific week--Edwards a lousy one--too early to read anything into this |
|
Obama gave a great announcement speech and then to top it off had the great good fortune to be attacked by Australian Prime Minister, John Howard. He shot back immediately and scored a hit. It doesn't get any better than that.
Edwards was mired in this controversy over those two bloggers which, whatever the facts of the case, did not look good.
Clinton of course got tied up in knots trying to explain why her IWR vote was a mistake without actually calling it a mistake.
Great week for Obama--not great for Edwards and Clinton.
We'll see lots of ups and downs from all concerned before this is over.

26. Don't sell Edwards short - he's like the tortoise to the hare |
|
Even when he's not getting a lot of national buzz, he's usually on the ground plowing away voter by voter by voter. He did that in Iowa last time around - while Dean was getting all of the national attention, Edwards was quietly wooing voters at the grassroots level and ended up getting the major newspaper endorsement the week before the primary and beating Dean through sheer hard work and good organization.
Don't write him off. Just because we're not seeing him every night on cable doesn't mean he's not gaining traction. He's very good at biding his time and flying under the radar until it's time to strike.

Hope it continues.
The fact that it would be historically unprecedented for the candidate in the "lead" this far out to ultimately win the nomination gives me hope.
