Ok... I'm crying now.
Something in the world had gone right for a change.

After watching everything, including Barack and Michelle dancing, it finally hit me when I saw the "Zero Fail" add for a National Geographic special on Air Force One.

That's when I realized, that's when it was really real to me... He made it.

It's really real. He's the leader of The Free World.

Holy shit... I'm in tears.

Anyone else?

1. Exactly! I just saw the same commercial...and it had just hit me...
sort of like waking up from a dream, and you realize you are awake and this real!!!

I had this momentary thought of the rest of the year..and President Barack Obama being on TV everyday!! Wow. I will start watching the news conferences again.

4. S'ok... it's not like there were many pressers to miss in the last 8 years.
There'll be something worth watching now.

9. Exactly. I won't have to turn the channel or mute the sound when our new President is on.

2. I was in tears earlier...
But not now...

But my feelings were the same as yours...

The realization that he made it...

And he took all of us with him...

5. MrUP called me in because The President was going to dance.
Not "president obama" but "The President". I alternate between giggling and tears.

6. That "something good finally happened in this country" feeling happened on election day for me
I blubbered like an old fool that night. I've welled up a few times today too though.

11. Well... aren't you just way ahead of the curve...
I loved hearing; "The first Lady of the United States... Michelle Obama."

What's great is that in her heels, she's got half an inch on him. Hee hee.

The tall chicks have always gone for me too. ;)

8. Today is the first day I actually sang the National Anthem....
first time I've ever cared about the flag or really even felt like I was a part of this country. I have stood at many an assembly while everybody was staring at the flag and singing and thought about nothing but slavery and never mumbled a word. I sang today!

13. Oh darlin' girl...
I can't know your pain, but please let me share in your jubilation.

We're here on the cusp of the human race finally growing up. You and I are part of that story... so let's make it happen.

Thanks love.

12. I was too tired on election night to cry or even absorb anything
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 12:17 AM by CitizenPatriot
other than the fact that I could put away my research on the Panama Canal as an option for moving.

I was so relieved, but exhausted, that I couldn't even have a real drink! Horrors!!!

Today, I cried like a baby. I let it all go. The awful angst of the last 8 years....gone.

To hear, "the President" and know that I'm PROUD of this man, I worked for his campaign with every fiber in my being, and I wanted this so badly I would have given my life for it...

well, shit! It's amazing. Good things really do happen.

It's a new era.

edited to add that a trip to the new gov website gave me the chills:-) He's wasting no time! I love this man!

15. You're not the only one. It was a hopefilled day.
A beautiful young couple, clearly in love, adorable kids, a smart new leader, it feels like a bright dawn after a long frightful night.

A new day is dawning. Good things are coming.

“These are the days of miracle and wonder
This is the long distance call
The way the camera follows us in slo-mo
The way we look to us all
The way we look to a distant constellation
That's dying in a corner of the sky
These are the days of miracle and wonder
And don't cry baby, don't cry
Don't cry” -Paul Simon
