The ElectVote Yes on Proposition 93!ion is Near,
Dear Thomas:
The most exciting Presidential Primary of our generation just a few days away.
Along with the presidential candidates on the ballot are several important propositions. It’s important to know that the California Democratic Party has endorsed just one proposition on the February 5 ballot: Proposition 93.
Proposition 93 is a modest change that could have major benefits. This reform strikes a reasonable balance between the need for new people and fresh ideas, and the need for experienced legislators with the knowledge and expertise to deal with the complex problems facing California. We all know that it is nearly impossible to learn a new career and tackle the major issues facing the world's seventh largest economy all within 6 years.
Issues of poverty, equality, climate change and health care just can't be dealt with in a single blow. It takes time and dedication. We need legislators who have a deep understanding of the issues and an ability to work towards progressive change that leads the nation.
Proposition 93 has been endorsed by major newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times and La Opinión. The LA Times had this to say about Proposition 93:
More time in one house means lawmakers wouldn't be so dependent on lobbyists for their supposed expertise. Lawmakers also would have more clout to say no to lobbyist money -- in part because they wouldn't have to plan a run for another office quite so soon.
California organizations continue to endorse Proposition 93, including California Common Cause, United Farm Workers and the California State NAACP. They are saying one thing: California's government will work better after Proposition 93.
These groups are just the latest to join an impressive list of endorsing organizations, including the following groups:
California Labor Federation
California Teachers Association
AFSCME
California League of Conservation Voters
Equality California
Older Women's League
California Young Democrats
California Faculty Association
California Professional Firefighters
SEIU
California State Council of Laborers
California Church IMPACT
Congress of California Seniors
Sierra Club
Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund
This is only a partial list. For a full list of endorsements, see:
