Rose Treml, the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce's executive director, asked the city council on Monday for permission to use the lot at Somonauk Street and DeKalb Avenue on Sunday afternoons for a market for local farmers to sell their goods.
"We call it a 'French Market' because we want it to be perceived as an upscale market, not just a farmer's market," said Treml, who was at the meeting on behalf of Discover Sycamore, a branch of the chamber.
Discover Sycamore Director Kayte Sparkman said this morning that the organization wants to recreate the feeling of being at a market in France."
Sounds kind of cool. I might have to find some other things to do there so it merits a visit this summer. It has potential.
