Hello Kitty-themed maternity hospital opens in Taiwan
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/japan/3680683/Hello-Kitty-themed-maternity-hospital-opens-in-Taiwan.html
Patients are welcomed by a statue of Hello Kitty dressed in a doctor's uniform, before travelling in a Hello Kitty elevator to a pink examination room with Hello Kitty posters on the wall.

-------

Describing the objectives of the hospital, he said: "I wish that everyone who comes here, mothers who suffer while giving birth and children who suffer from an illness, can get medical care while seeing these kitties and bring a smile to their faces, helping forget about discomfort and recover faster."

Maybe this is what we need to do to improve health care in this country.

1. I dunno about everyone else, but I always found
Hello Kitty to be a bit creepy looking.

4. For kids, sure - but women in labor?
I would have gone postal, surrounded by all that pink . . .

6. I will admit that I know of a woman who might have chosen to give birth in that room
if it had existed in the USA when she had her child.

Pretty funny. Or scary.

Then again, nothing, to me, is more frightening than these:

Technically, they're "shoulder massagers." Yeah. Right.

5. Americans aren't the only ones who stamp corporate brands everywhere they can.
Also, Hello Kitty freaks me out.

7. That this exists under a universal health care system
should serve as a warning for us all.

8. And that warning is.... ???

What?

That we should keep the greed-filled insurance corporation-driven health "care" system we have now -- one that kills 18,000 people every year -- because we fear Hello Kitty hospitals??

9. It was a little bit of my sarcastic humor.
I apologize if it went over your head.

10. Sorry, am dealing with my mother in the clutches of the "healthcare" system RIGHT NOW, so I don't...

...have much of a sense of humor left. I'm under so much stress these days, I fear that I'M about to get sick myself, and I have NO healthcare -- none -- no insurance if anything happens.

So again, sorry, not much humor anymore in my life thanks to this problem.
