I'm thinking of quiting again. Anyone want to join me?
I've tried many times. My longest quit was 3 months and that was many years ago. My last quit was Dec 2004 and it lasted about 8 weeks. I hate quiting, hate it hate it hateit. But I can't breathe. Well, not as well as I could. And I hate smoking. I've kept it down to eight a day for 10 months, but the number is going up higher and higher now. Soon I'll be smoking a pack & a half again. My husband says I'm coughing again. :evilfrown:

Anyone ready to try again? Maybe buddying up a bit would help?

2. hi there-s a!
Wow, I thought no one would ever respond. I just checked back on the off chance, and...

hi.

I'm ready, I think.

How's it been since Halloween? Have you used any aids or have you just quit cold-turkey? I would be really happy to have another quitting smoker out there.

:toast:

I'll join you. Just say when.

3. I quit Sunday, November 6th, at 6:00 a.m.
I went to the doctor before I quit. I am using the patch.

Join me. I stop in at quitnet.com, but it would be nice to quit with a fellow Democrat.

6. I'm joining you tomorrow morning.
Tonight it's hard for me to not just sit down with the rest of my pack and smoke like there's no tomorrow. I'm managing though. It's amazing the veil that rests between smoking and not smoking. Like two completely different worlds: From here not smoking looks impossible, though I have done it before. From here smoking is terrible, I can't breath, I feel tight in the chest, my skin is disgusting. But from the other side, the side of not smoking, smoking looks like the answer to all my problems, like some kind of nirvana. Two different worlds. Two completely different points of view.

So today was day 3 for you. That's infamously the worst. You did it though!
:applause: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

4. Breathing
After 6 months of clean air,I smoked for four days in October, and my breath went out the window.Hacking in the morning was the worst.Random coughing throughout the day.I'm only 38,but my family has a history of lung cancer and emphysema, and the last time I smoked it was apparent that I have inherited these tendencies.

5. same here
I have one grand parent dead by emphysema and one dead by lung cancer. Scary. I figured the other side of my family was healthy so I'd be okay...then I realized that they never smoked! Even during the 10 months I kept it at 8 or fewer a day I couldn't take a deep breath.

People who don't smoke tell me how great it feels to breathe deeply.

There's no good reason to smoke. It's just the head games we play with ourselves that tell us otherwise.

Keep going. You're doing it!
