Questions about Day 5 on Chantix
Okay, I'm day 5 of not smoking, and on day 12 of being on Chantix.

The reason I stopped taking Chantix is because I had a feeling the Chantix was creating side effects that were worse than the withdrawal yesterday, slight nausea and some anxiety from wither the pill or the withdrawal, not sure). And anyway, based on this chart my withdrawal symptoms should be a lot less today.

So I got a month's supply and have only used a week and a half. Has anyone else stopped taking it after this short a time? The other reason is I want to stop Chantix before I become too dependent on it, although I know the pharma will claim that's impossible.

1. I had to reduce my dose

I couldn't take the 2mg a day because I had too much trouble falling and staying asleep. My nausea was only the first couple days but the sleep problems grew worse with the dose. I stayed on it the full amount of time but just took 1mg in the morning and that was it. I had no dependence issues, I was thrilled to be done due to the sleep problems. I'd take it again if I had to because I've failed so many times it really worked for me. I considered stopping it but was too concerned I'd start smoking again so I just tried to deal with it and it worked.

How are you holding up?

2. I stopped using it because it didn't work for me...
....then I heard about the side-effects and thanked my lucky stars that I'd stopped when I did...

3. Last year, December 2007.
Chantix made me puke every time I took it. There were other effects that I don't recall. I had to quit because anything that makes me that sick can't be good for me. I wasted $300.

4. It effects people in different ways. It worked wonders for me.
I quit in 1992 and relapsed in '07. I took Chantix and the desire went completely away. Then, I relapsed again in Oct. '09. I picked up my prescription just this past Saturday and it's now only Tuesday and already my desire has really subsided. I personally didn't experience feeling sick to my stomach. My side effect has been very strange dreams. Also, my prescription cost $137. Maybe it depends on where you live and which pharmacy you use.

When did I post this, 07? Haha. At that time I quit for awhile, relapsed, and now I've quit again. Good luck and thanks!
