I'd love to get feedback from those of you who feel well-versed in what's TRULY going on in DC now.
There are so many things coming at us in a splintered fashion: the Libby trial; the various committees Dems have launched (e.g. Bremer and the wasted money in Iraq, Katrina); Feingold's brave comments about how things work behind the scenes; the Lt. Watada trial; and many more critical things I'm surely forgetting.
If those of us who DO give a crap about politics and where our "leaders" are taking us are overwhelmed with the noise, imagine the Average Joe/Jane who is overwhelmed and turned off even more easily. Geesh.
Maybe something is about to break with Sibel Edmonds or other ongoing efforts?
Here's my question: do any of you have a feel for the overall climate and where all of these things may be leading? We all have hope that SOMETHING will bring the truth out in a big way about how this administration has lied, manipulated and desecrated so much, including our Constitution. Does anyone feel all of these things are likely to come to a head soon and have a major breakthrough that the mass media can't ignore? Do you feel any particular issue/event is going to be the watershed issue/event?
I'm losing perspective and easily get lost...can't see the forest for the trees.
Any educated and/or intuitive thoughts?

1. Sorry to say, for me, these are uncharted waters. I thought for sure the Gannon/Guckert |
|
story would break.........grow legs......and it died on the vine.
We have lots of political foreplay........but no orgasms.
Hence, frustration.
All of the karma is getting all tangled up with noise from cable, MSM and the web.
Maybe I need to retreat to a quiet spot and wait for the simmering pots to boil over.........

3. Another question could be, |
|
(for those old enough to have been around thirty plus years ago) does this feel like Watergate? In other words. what is the real mood on the Hill, anywhere inside the Beltway.

I've seen several members here - the opinions of whom I respect tremendously as they are sooooo on top of things - mention that they see something bigger than Watergate on the very near horizon.
I see that written about Plamegate, about Halliburton-type issues, about this and that. So many things have the potential to make Watergate seem like a high school prank, but, as I said, I just lose perspective since there isn't ONE core investigation going on.

5. I was living in the DC area during Watergate, |
|
although I did not work for the Federal Government, and I was rather out of the loop, to put it mildly. But in the final week or two before Nixon's resignation, the entire metro area figuratively came to a standstill. I've never actually spoken with anyone who worked on the Hill or in government at that time, so I have no idea what it was like before then, but perhaps there's someone here who can enlighten us.
