economists charged with the official designation of business
cycles, said that the United States economy has been in

12. That's the only truth today. Some people are NOT in a recession. Look around.
Sadly, a lot of people are in a depression. It's the Bill Gates average scenario. The very wealthy tend to screw up the average. We've been in a jobs depression since bush entered office.

19. While watching a documentary on the Kennedys, it revealed that JFK didn't know
the Country was in a depression and that he had heard about it from one of his Harvard professors. I'm sure he wasn't the only rich person who was unaware.

13. cnbc says this is GOOD news because ..????
in the 16 U.S. recessions since 1919, the average length has been 13 months, so this one is almost over!!!! ( my take on their statement ) I have no idea how they can justify such a statement,,, this recession - depression is just getting started!!!

14. NOW they tell us .. a YEAR late!
What a bunch of idiots.
Last year, I kept telling some stockbrokers I know, I thought we were in a recession.
Last year, the jobless rate was high, and Xmas shopping was down.
THEY called me "unamerican".
One idiot had the nerve to tell me: "you think we're in recession because you're a Democrat".
HA!
