1. And remember - most who showed up are the light weight users
The heavy weight inhalers had no idea that this was happening that day!

10. They had what? 20X more at this ONE rally than they had in Boston or DC.
Denver had "thousands". California had smoke-ins where thousands showed up. Yet no bus from CNN to cover and glorify them. No wall to wall coverage.

Whadda ya expect?

25. I think the Darkhorse has been gone for a couple of decades....
I remember the 'daze' back when I was about 16 or 17 and could always get served alcohol there. We thought ordering 7&7's was just sooo sophisticated!

:hi:

7. You just know the squirrels in those trees are getting the munchies
hardcore now. Luckily the kids and their granola are safe - the squirrels are also way too unmotivated now to do anything about their sudden onset of munchies. :P :smoke:

14. how come you can pull 12,000 kids on one campus to smoke reefer but not to do anything that actually

15. When student loans and financial aid are denied to anyone busted for simple
possession, of course it matters. It's not the only thing that matters, or the most important, but it certainly matters and this was a nice turnout to bring attention. Personally, I'd like to see college students lead the way in protesting the wars, but I guess without a draft it just doesn't have the same urgency as the old days.

19. And where would you put 12,000 arrestees for this completely non-violent misdemeanor? What bureau-
cratic boss do you think you'd make happy with that expensive and ultimately fruitless move of lousy PR? The Chief of Police? District magistrate? The college bursar? The college president? The mayor?
Tax-payers?

21. that's not what i mean. i mean in the usual course of things, not at the big smoke-in.
Edited on Thu Apr-22-10 05:50 AM by Hannah Bell
i don't even understand why you thought you had to explain "they can't arrest 12000 people".

22. For the same reason, every one of the 700,000+ annual arrestees for pot
should request a jury trial. Not only would it cause judicial and financial havoc, but in most cases, despite the jury instructions, at least one juror would be a likely holdout for acquittal, resulting in a mistrial. Then, for whatever percentage that would amount to, the prosecutors would have to decide whether to waste more of their limited resources to retry a pot smoker. If that doesn't end the nonsense, nothing will. Certainly not the government, when even a guy like Obama takes the Elliot Ness approach and believes in its ultimate success.

What was that about the definition of insanity, that we heard so many times during the presidential campaign?

24. Turns out that freedom DOES matter, after all.
How can you ask for these kids help if you speak out of both sides of your mouth on an issue that is demonstrably important to them?
