KINSHASA, Congo -- Rwanda warned it will launch an attack "very soon" on Rwandan Hutu rebels sheltering in eastern Congo, the U.N. mission said Wednesday in an ominous development that raised fears of renewed central African conflict. A Rwandan official denied the allegations.

The U.N. responded by deploying an additional brigade of peacekeepers to the eastern province of North Kivu to address the threat and prevent any violence, U.N. spokesman Fred Eckhard said at U.N. headquarters in New York.
