But whether number of disasters (STD's and unwanted pregnancies) are increasing. For example, abstinence only ed. five refrain from sex, five do not but four of those get an STD or the girl gets pregnant. Abstinence recommended but contraception and disease prevention information taught, four refrain from sex, but of the six who are sexually active only two get an STD and one gets pregnant. Which program is a success? Depends on how you define "success." If success is an increase in the number of celibate teenagers, then abstinence only. If success is defined as a healthier outcome for more adolescents, then number 2. Actual numbers may vary--LOL. For religious conservatives the one (multiply as desired) extra disaster is worth it because the goal is to increase the number of celibate-until-marriage young people. What ever happened to the Joy of Sex? We sure have come a long way, baby.
