It really shouldn't be a surprise. I have sometimes wondered how this would have played out if the parents had been Jehovah's Witnesses, intent on not allowing the feeding tube and the husband was intent on leaving it in. Alter a few facts and the assumed left/right political dynamic might have been different.

However the facts are what they are, and 15 years of being severely brain damaged on a feeding tube should convince anyone, even a preacher.
