49. Let's see now . . . Pope John Paul II . . .
.

.
Let's see, now . . . Pope John Paul II has a feeding tube inserted (cannot swallow to eat), has a respirator tube inserted (cannot breathe on his own), and "'Yesterday afternoon . . . following a urinary infection, a state of septic shock and cardio-circulatory collapse set in,' the statement said. Septic shock is a life-threatening reaction to a severe infection.'" http://www.boston.com/news/world/europe/articles/2005/04/01/pope_in_very_grave_condition__vatican_1112334120/

"However, the Vatican is denying that the Pope has slipped into a coma." - NPR reports at 5:00 A.M. (WBUR, Boston, MA)

Uuummmmmmm, I've heard reports that the Pope refuses to go to hospital this time around. My knee-jerk query is: Why? So that he may slip into death via the life-sustaining medical treatments being withdraw out of the public? e.g., feeding tube, respirator tube??
