11. lockdown
for 2 or 3 years, my high school was plagued by several incidents in which a student would write some sort of stupid bomb threat on the bathroom wall, somebody would report it, and the whole school was placed under lockdown. all classroom doors locked, windows shut, shades down, no use of computers or telephones. guidelines also said to keep away from walls. during all of this, school staff and local police would usually search lockers for bombs (yeah right). sometimes classes would be escorted one at a time to the auditorium or gymnasium and we would be held there for who knows how long. one time they even bused us up to the 3-6 building. thankfully whoever was doing it either got kicked out, moved, or graduated, and it stopped a number of years ago.

funny thing is, most of these "bomb threats" were found in one of the girl's bathrooms. so they installed a camera on the wall opposite the door, and started requiring all students to sign in and out of class whenever they went to the bathroom, locker, what have you.

next year (luckily after i graduate), the school will be installing a new security system and many cameras. these were part of a voter referendum to decide whether or not to install lights for the football field and get new computers.
