18. An awful lot of them "volunteered," all right
…for one weekend a month. When this is all over, I think some clarification is needed as to what exactly the National Guard is. Why would anyone join the National Guard under the present conditions? The appeal of the Guard was that a person could serve and remain close to home and family. If one were looking to serve overseas, why not join the regular service branches?
