The cold war aided in the creation of the terrorists. In the name of battling communism (and supporting oil corps) we overthrew the government of Iraq and Iran. We supported dictatorial regimes in the middle east such as Saudi Arabia. We supplied the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan with weapons then left the country to war ravaged poverty and the Taliban when the Soviets left. Part of reason we have these terrorists today is our very policies during the cold war provided the conditions under which the Islamic radicals could recruit. We tend to have short term memories here in the US and think those folks over there would forget some of the wrongs we did in proxy wars versus the Soviets but they remember and will carry those scars for generations. Shrub Inc responds to these overwhelming historical precedents by starting another war in Iraq that will further add fuel to the fire. He's repeating the mistakes of the cold war but on a larger scale.
