28. You can not legislate morality
It has been against the law to kill in this country for a very long time, and the death penalty has not stopped it from happening. The rate of abortion, measured as a per capita, has not appreciable changed since the passing of Roe v. Wade. It happened before and after the ruling. Prohibition did not work, it was such a failure that it was repealed. The list goes on, but the churches who are pushing this just don't seem to understand that you can't legislate morality. How many sinners live in a theocracy? Even going to that extreme of a governmental form does not change peoples morality. The ignorance of those facts by church leaders is just numbing.
