Yep, certain "Americans" have despised the U.N. since the 1960's. The very thought of diplomacy, and communication rubs some of them the wrong way, apparently. Why lower yourself to speak with someone when you could simply kill him, instead?

From the article:
In a letter to the leaders of the US, UK and Iraq, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan warned that the use of force risked alienating Iraqis when their support for elections was vital.

But Mr Allawi called the letter "confused".

Somehow, I can hear Bush's voice delivering that snotty remark. "Confused!" You bet.
