3. Some of the Democratic opposition to Bustamante is race-based
We are facing a new kind of bigot, one that does not says ethnic slurs, or that overtly expresses their bigotry. The new kind of bigot, one that I have experienced myself, is one that may even be a self-described liberal but that by word and deeds shows that he is more comfortable with people of his own Anglo background than with those of a different culture and background. You only get to realize that such racism is at play when you see how assignments and job promotions are made.
