11. Yada, yada, yada...
People need to accept reality and stop blaming whoever they want to blame and prepare themselves for what is heading our way. A world, for all intents and purposes, without oil. There may be oil for another 25 years before there is complete depletion. But for most of us, we are already living in the world without oil. Higher gas prices, higher prices for petrochemical products which include everything from cosmetics to cleaning products and of course higher utility and grocery bills. And taxes will go up as well as municipalities have to raise taxes to cover the increasing utility bills. We forget that the cities we live in also get utility bills. They don't get free service.

We can blame ourselves and should. But the real blame lies with Congress which over 30 years ago should have followed the example of Brazil and moved to development of alternative fuel and energy sources. Instead Congress told us all not to worry. The government in fact still maintains, despite Bush himself finally admitting the truth, we have ample supplies of oil and gas for the next 200 years. Perhaps the government is including all the reserves of Iraq and Iran and possibly Saudi Arabia in its projections and doing so under the assumption that we will succeed in merely seizing all of their reserves for ourselves.

Long before we are able to do so both Russia and China most likely will decide the best solution to the problem of oil depletion is to merely deplete us and launch a barrage of nuclear missiles without warning.
