My brother and I have discussed this before. I am an engineer, and I am reluctant to work for certain companies (their names come up often around here). Is is morally acceptable to take a job with a higher salary doing something you do not agree with, if you contribute a significant chunk of that salary to organizations that ofset the harm done by the company that employs you?

Could your friend work in Iraq if he gave half of that money to, for example, Red Crescent?

I am interested to hear replies.
