in Major League Baseball. It was a momentous day, not only for baseball, but for American society in general. Jackie Robinson showed great courage and class because he was persecuted and constantly harassed his first year or two. Later in his life, Mr. Robinson was a champion for civil rights and appeared with Dr. Martin Luther King from time to time. Cancer robbed this great man of his life too early, but all people, regardless of race, color, or creed should honor Jackie Robinson today and every day.
