But there were also some reports that the US had brought in Kurdish peshmergas to act as snipers along with the Marines in Fallujah. Whose peshmergas they allegedly were (which faction), I don't know.

Unfortunately, while this is just the sort of bonehead manuever I could see Rumsfeld pulling, it's also just the sort of rumor that someone who wanted a civil war in Iraq would spread. I don't have enough information to guess which one it is.
