SUV Owners File Class-Action Suit against Makers of Patriotic Magnets

The Nashville-based law firm of Bowes and Alexander announced today that it has filed a class-action law-suit against the makers of a popular magnetic ribbon that allows American drivers to show their support for the troops. The suit alleges that the "Support Our Troops" magnets cause "extensive harm" to the bodies of high-end SUVs.

Drivers say that 'support the troops' ribbons cause extensive damage to vehicle exteriors.

A Good Idea Gone Horribly Wrong

In northwest North Carolina, owners of Gullion's Christian Supply Center, among the first retailers to sell the "Support Our Troops" magnets, are said to be in a state of shock over the lawsuit, which names Gullion's, Wal-Mart and a group of military wives as defendants. While no one from the Gullion family was willing to speak to the press, a close associate had this to say: "They're just praying right now: for their business, for the SUV owners and for the troops."

Gullion's Christian Supply Center began selling the magnets last year, hoping that church groups and military families could re-sell them to fund care packages, body armor and bibles for the troops. But the Gullion's were quickly undersold by Wal-Mart and other giant retailers that sold similar "Support Our Troops" magnets, made in China, for a fraction of the price charged by the family-run bookstore.
