I am writing you to urge you to please vote no on the proposal to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling. All Democrats need to stand together on this issue because it is a litmus test for environmental rights. Once the precedent has been set with ANWR, the dominoes will continue to fall on almost any drilling proposal that seems feasible. This could very well include drilling offshore of Hawaii which could potential decimate your states tourist industry. Please understand that that is what the industry proponents of drilling in ANWR are actually looking for, to set the precedent that development of US sources of oil must occur anywhere at anytime at their total discretion in the interest of National Security. Do not let the debate be weakened on all US natural resources by giving in on one that clearly makes no sense for America but and does not have broad support in America.

Please, I urge you to stand with all people of good conscious and vote against drilling in ANWR.
