Don is a former soldier with the 25th Infantry Division. He later became an Airborne Jungle expert qualified member of the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service. Among other awards in radio and TV he has received a prestigious Keith L. Ware Army broadcast award, a team Emmy and an Army Commendation Medal for putting a fire out on top of an ammo dump.
